PingStatus overview

PingStatus is a menu bar app that will monitor the health of your internet connection and provide notification when health has changed.

What’s new in version 2.0.3

Enhanced Graph History and Zoom
  • Persistent History: Your connection history is now saved, allowing you to review performance over a longer period.
  • Zoom Controls: You can now zoom in and out of the graph to see fine-grained details or a broad overview of your connection stability.
  • Time Navigation: A new slider lets you easily navigate through your connection timeline.
Jitter Monitoring
  • New Metric: We now monitor and display Jitter statistics. Jitter is a key indicator of connection quality for real-time applications like Zoom calls, gaming, and VoIP. High jitter can cause lag even if ping times are low.
Improvements and Fixes
  • Default Target: The default ping target has been updated to 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) for a more reliable out-of-the-box experience.
  • Improved Status Details: The details window now provides more explicit status information about your target connectivity.
  • Stability: Added global exception handling to prevent crashes and provide better error reporting.
  • Bug Fixes: Various improvements to memory usage, logging, and UI responsiveness.

User beware. This app has no instruction, no contact info for the developer--Nothing. The website is blank with no information or email address - i.e. no support of any kind an no resources to report bugs. Since it is at version 1.4 one would assume it has had other releases at earlier times. Other than being on the Apple Store, their is no assurance of accountability or that this is not some form of malware or a personal data collector. I can't vouch for its usefulness or operation as I personally have strong reservations about installing it on my computer for the reasons above.
